Binck Bank

Corporate social responsibility

The developments in 2009 demonstrated that the financial world cannot function without the trust of interested parties, including customers, staff, shareholders, business partners and society as a whole. Through corporate social responsibility, BinckBank aims to preserve and promote permanent trust in its activities. As a young and modern company, BinckBank believes that it must make conscious decisions, while bearing in mind the effects thereof on the (social) environment.

The main developments of 2009

The direct impact of the operations of BinckBank on the environment is limited. We do not produce polluting products, but merely offer securities-related services. However, now that BinckBank has grown into a company with 526 full-time staff and 373,574 account holders in the Netherlands, Belgium and France, the social impact becomes increasingly distinct. BinckBank realises that it can only continue to be successful if its board members, managers and staff take active responsibility for carrying out their work and the effects thereof, while focusing on the client. Hence we have been meeting and exceeding the expectations of our clients for many years by providing excellent customer service and we continue to aim to achieve the highest possible level of customer-satisfaction. At BinckBank, the client is paramount and pays competitive and transparent fees, without hidden costs.

In 2009, within the framework of the system integration between Alex Asset Management and BinckBank, a new data centre was constructed. The concept of virtualisation technology was applied for this setup. This means that multiple servers used in the previous setup have now been accommodated into a single server as it were, optimising the use of capacity per server. This is expected to generate substantial savings in energy compared to the old data centres.

In 2009, BinckBank chose a new office location and bought the Eurocenter I office building, which can be found in Drentepark, near RAI Amsterdam railway station. Currently, BinckBank is operating from two different locations in the Amsterdam region. Eurocenter I offers excellent access by public transport and bicycle. Hence in 2010, BinckBank will continue to promote the use of public transport and bicycle by means of a public transport commuting allowance and the tax-friendly bicycle scheme, introduced in 2009.

In 2009, BinckBank became a member of the Association of Investors for Sustainable Development (VBDO).

Intentions for 2010

BinckBank is working on the introduction of Fund Investments. This will provide clients with a low-threshold and fast insight into the investment funds on offer. This will make it more straightforward to find sustainable investment funds in the total offer of investment funds.
